GCSE Art theme for the Autumn term - Light and Dark

This Autumn term, pupils doing GCSE Art will be covering the theme of ‘Light and Dark’. They will be looking at artists such as Caravaggio and Rembrandt and how they created dramatic effects. Sculptures like Rodin’s ‘The Gates of Hell’ will also be looked at for it's expressive quality. Others will be Ben Nicholson and his carved white reliefs and the photos by Edward Weston. Other artists to be explored are Norman Ackroyd and Patrick Caulfield (Printmakers).

It is expected that you will spend time exploring on the internet these artists and their work. We need to see how their work may influence your own. One big expectation is notetaking which aids in the development of your own ideas.
