Remembrance Sunday

Sunday 10th November

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all pupils in the Academy for the respect they showed throughout our Remembrance assembly on Friday 8th November as well for the two minute silence that was held on Monday 11th November. Two pupils represented the Academy at Dunstable’s Remembrance service and laid a poppy wreath on behalf of the school – Reanna Whelan and Matthew Day.

Harvest Festival

Friday 11th October

Our theme this year for Harvest was ‘Growing’. As an Academy we were overwhelmed by the generosity of our students and their families with the food goods they donated. All donations this year went to Dunstable Salvation Army. We would like to thank Major Stephen Brevitt for his support within our assembly.

Christmas Assembly & Christingle Service

Friday 14th December

The whole academy took part in our Christmas Assembly Christingle service. Every pupil in the academy had the chance to create a Christingle and within lessons learnt the importance of the Christingle to Christians across the world. We were also lucky enough this year to be joined by Rev. Rob Payne who told us all about the Christmas story and why Christmas is such an important time of
year.

I’d like to thank Rev. Rob Payne for our amazing assembly and Mr Ron Cherry the owner of Ron Cherry Greengrocers, Westfield Road, Dunstable who helped to source our 150 oranges. Our school smelt amazing as you can imagine!

Christianity R.E Days

Thursday 11th October & Friday 12th October

Across the Academy we held our first R.E days of the term looking at the religion Christianity. Pupils took part in a number of different activities and the enthusiasm, and work produced was amazing across all key stages. KS2 & 3 took part in a number of different activities looking at the story of creation and key stories from the Bible, and KS2 took a trip to St. Fremunds Church. KS4 were very lucky to have Rob Payne join them for the morning, taking them on an interactive journey through the story of creation.
