Meet the Trustees

Jacqui Hunt​

Jacqui Hunt is the Chair of Governors and a Trustee of Weatherfield Special Academy Trust. With over 30 years experience of education at a senior level, Jacqui was a Deputy Head Teacher of a large upper school in Central Bedfordshire, giving her a depth of understanding of how schools work and the history of education in Dunstable and Central Bedfordshire. Jacqui has no pecuniary interests in the Academy. Jacqui has been a governor since 2005 and a trustee since 2012. She has attended training with staff at the Academy regularly and is also ‘Safer Recruitment’ trained.

Trevor Rix​

Trevor Rix is the Vice-Chair of Governors and has been on the Governing Body of Weatherfield since 1998. Trevor (a retired solicitor) was the Chief Executive of South Bedfordshire District Council for 16 years and has over 40 years’ experience in business and management. Trevor has been a Trustee since 2012 and is a trained Governor to oversee the Headteacher’s Performance Management. Trevor is a long-standing member of the Dunstable Rotary Club and has no pecuniary interests in Weatherfield Academy.

​Joe Selmes​

Mr J C Selmes is Head Teacher at Weatherfield Academy Special School. He qualified with a B.Ed [Hons] Degree from London University and taught in a large Upper School in Dunstable from 1987 to 2000. After moving into Special Education at the then Weatherfield School in 2000, he added to his educational qualifications and completed a NPQH in 2009. After becoming Head Teacher of Weatherfield School in April 2011, he oversaw the conversion to Special School Academy in March 2012. Mr Selmes is also a trustee of The Happy Days Charity, based in Luton which helps pupils from deprived and challenged backgrounds. Mr Selmes has no pecuniary interest in the Academy.
