KS5 End of Term Message

As we come to the end of our first half term this academic year, I wanted to let you know that your son/daughter has made an excellent start to Key Stage 5. I wanted to personally thank you for your support in your son/daughter’s education at Weatherfield Academy.

The students have been completing assessments this half term and I am pleased to say some students (they will have been notified by letter) will be taking their GCSE Maths exams when we return after half term – we all wish them well with these exams and know they will do themselves proud.

The students have also enjoyed their week with NCS and following this have all taken part in the Marie Curie 180 walk/run. We have already received sponsor money and we are very pleased with the efforts of all students and the money raised so far, thank you. Miss Mohammed will let us know the total amount raised, once all monies have been received.

Lunchtime

After half term there will be a change to the timing of lunch in Key Stage 5 – it will be –

11.45 to 12.10/15 – outdoor activities on the astro/playground/field (weather permitting).

12.10/12.15 to 12.30 lunch in the school hall for those that have school dinners (packed lunches will continue to eat in the classroom), if students need to use the microwave they will be given sufficient time to heat their meals up and eat them comfortably. (They will not be rushed).

12.30 back to class for afternoon lessons.

Year 14 students and leavers

I am working very closely with local authorities and teachers in respect of students leaving us this academic year to ensure they receive their full options of different pathways. I have already arranged virtual meetings with Develop, Dunstable and will be arranging one with Oaklands too. I am attaching a copy of an email sent by Central Beds College as regards their virtual open event.

We wish you all a good half term and look forward to seeing your son/daughter on the 3rd November.
